The Tata Group's history with the Defence sector goes back to the 1940s when the Group supplied armoured steel to support the World War II effort. The Tata Group also developed a Wheeled Armoured Carrier - Indian Pattern or ACV-IP, better known as the 'Tatanagar'. From India's independence in 1947 till 2005, the Group has contributed to serving India's defence needs in the mobility segment through Tata Motors.

  • Tata Technologies Ltd

    Tata Technologies, a key subsidiary of Tata Motors, is an engineering services company having considerable experience in providing design and development support on Defence & Aerospace projects. The company works with 12 of the most reputed OEMs in the Aerospace sector which include Fokker, BAE systems, Boeing, Airbus, Northrop Grumman & Bell Helicopter.

  • Jaguar & Land Rover

    Tata Motors acquired Jaguar Land rover in 2008. With this acquisition Tata Motors has access to over 65 years’ experience of building exceptional all-terrain vehicles. Land Rover provides armed forces around the globe with light 4x4 vehicles designed to meet a wide range of Defence, reconnaissance, refugee protection and peacekeeping roles.

    Tata Motors receives its largest armored vehicle order for supply of 120 units of Light Armored Troop Carriers (LATC) to CRPF
  • 2010-11
    Tata Motors receives the 1st order of Mine Protected Vehicle 4x4, 6x6 & 8x8 range of Combat Support vehicles for Low-level Quick Reaction Missile System (LLQRM)
  • 2011-12
    Tata Motors commissioned its dedicated manufacturing line for production of Mine Protected Vehicle in Chinchwad, Pune
  • 2012-13
    Tata Motors receives its largest pickup order of 715 units of Xenon GS800 for US Army in Afghanistan
  • 2013-14
    Tata Motors receives a prestigious order of 600 units of Xenon GS800 from Myanmar Army
  • 2014-15
    Tata Motors receives its largest Defence order of 520 logistics military vehicles from International Market for UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA)
  • 2014-15
    Tata Motors wins a prestigious order of 1239 units of High Mobility Vehicle (MHC) 6x6 from the Indian Army
  • 2015-16
    Tata Motors in collaboration with DRDO develops India’s 1st fully indigenous Wheeled Amphibious Infantry Combat Vehicle 8x8
  • 2015-16
    Tata Motors received repeat order of 619 units of High Mobility Vehicle 6x6 from the Indian Army
  • 2015-16
    Tata Motors received repeat order of 450 units of Xenon GS800 from Myanmar Army
  • 2016-17
    Tata Motors commissioned its 1st dedicated Defence manufacturing line in Jamshedpur
  • 2016-17
    Tata Motors recently bagged an order for 3,200 Tata Safari Stormes as the new General Service vehicle in 800 kg class, the Stormes vehicle will replace the legacy GS 500 vehicle of the Indian Army
